OUR STORY

MaDukey Productions Legacy

In 1991, Bosco Kante, Lea Reis and Bryant "Moe Doe" Johnson met and formed the music production company, MaDukey Productions. Bosco and Lea met as students at the University of Southern California. Bosco was the genius and athletic student who brought his NorthWest Hip Hop Funk to the musical table with his home-made talk box and in-dorm studio set up. Lea was the local studious yet friendly USC student who brought the L.A. West Coast Hip Hop R&B sound to the group. Bryant "Moe Doe" Johnson was the local DJ who knew how to spin the right records to put a catchy hip hop beat in place. The three of them began as Tre Styles production, producing local artists such as Montell Jordan, Jade, Jeffery Williams, Volume 10, and others from the Good Life scene. Later they changed their names to MaDukey Productions, a subtle translation of the more provocative "Crazy Shit", as a way to describe their music. Bosco's connection to Big John Platt from Denver would help propel the three of them to new heights. As MaDukey Productions, they signed a co-publishing agreement with EMI publishing, as arranged by their manager, Big Jon. As part of the publishing entity, they were fortunate enough to work with artists such as Champ MC, Yo Yo, Adina Howard, 12 Guage, Deni Hines, Patric Rushen, Niki Grier, and many others. Since then, the three of them parted ways, and have successfully created their own paths in Entertainment.

Bryant "Moe Doe" Johnson

Bryant Johnson went on to develop websites and support other musicians by branding their images.

Moe Doe will always be remembered as the brother, dad, son and friend who loved to laugh and joke. His talent for hip hop was unique to the west coast and will be engrained in the vinyl grooves of the records he spun, played and pressed.
